The Regional Transportation Plan is a 20-year planning document that SJCOG updates every four years. The 2018 RTP will outline transportation improvements and other related planning elements through the year 2042. This is especially important because all transportation improvements must be financially constrained (listed in the RTP) to receive most federal, state, and local funding.
As part of the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS) process, SJCOG released three transportation growth scenarios illustrating multiple transportation futures and the impacts that different housing and land use influences and transportation strategies would have on the transportation system. The three scenarios were outlined in public outreach events and online surveys throughout September and early October. They represent a progression of investment decisions that come with difficult tradeoffs. Members of the community were asked to rank the scenarios based on their individual priorities and what they felt was most important for the future of San Joaquin County.
As the next step, SJCOG is holding a public workshop to share how the different scenarios perform on important metrics that YOU care about --- metrics such as mobility, safety, and environment. During the workshop you will be able to ask questions but most importantly you will be able to choose what growth scenario you feel best fits the future San Joaquin you want to live in. All comments will be recorded and the preferred scenario will be presented to the SJCOG Board for adoption in spring 2018.
The Public Workshop will be held: Thursday, November 9 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. See the attached English/Spanish flyer for more details.
