Staff works with willing landowners who are open to the idea of a conservation easement to mitigate for the habitat impacts caused by most development projects in San Joaquin County.

SJCOG,Inc. Conservation Easements run in perpetuity and protect the land from ever being developed. The main restrictions of our easements are urban development and the conversion of row and field crops to any type of permanent crops, which are known to be unsuitable habitat for the species covered by the Plan.

The Plan covers over 40 types of habitat throughout San Joaquin County. Below are some examples of the types of habitats included on our growing list of preserves.
