Regional Transit
The San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) is the regional transit service provider for San Joaquin County offering intercity, interregional, and rural transit services. During this fiscal year, the Measure K program provided funding for RTD’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Express, Intercity/County Hopper, Van Go! On-Demand and Commuter services.
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Express
RTD’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Express is a high-quality service that operates with fewer stops and more frequent trips than
regular bus service to make it fast, reliable, and convenient for riders throughout Stockton. RTD launched the service in 2007
and saw extraordinary growth in ridership. Routes now cover the Pacific, Hammer, Airport, Midtown and Martin Luther King
Jr. corridors and offer seamless connections to all major RTD transfer locations. Amenities include dedicated transit stations,
improved shelters and boarding areas for passenger comfort and convenience, off-board fare collection for faster passenger
boarding, and higher capacity hybrid and all-electric buses to meet the demand for the service. In Fiscal Year 2021-22,
ridership for this service was more than 1.26 million.
Intercity and County Hopper Service
RTD’s County Hopper is a deviated fixed-route service serving San Joaquin County and providing intercity connections between
Stockton, Tracy, Lodi, Manteca, Ripon, Lathrop and Escalon. Each County Hopper can deviate from its normal route up to one
mile to accommodate passengers who are not able to reach their destinations. There are five weekday routes that operate 5:30
a.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations are required. In Fiscal Year 2021-22, Intercity and County Hopper passenger trips numbered
29,090.
Commuter Service
RTD’s Commuter service connects San Joaquin County commuters to Sacramento and the Dublin BART station. Park and Ride
lots offer commuters free parking and a connection to RTD’s San Joaquin Commuter. The service provides a cost-effective,
reliable, and environmentally friendly mode of travel for San Joaquin residents. In Fiscal Year 2021-22, RTD Commuter
services provided passenger trips for 33,308.
Van Go! On-Demand Service
RTD’s Van Go! provides on-demand service to rural and unincorporated areas that are not served by RTD’s fixed routes. Trips
throughout San Joaquin County on this accessible and flexible service can be booked via the Van Go! mobile application or
online. In Fiscal Year 2021-22, Van Go! provided passenger trips for 29,056.
