The San Joaquin Council of Governments' Clean Mobility Options (CMO) electric carsharing service project aims to provide affordable access to electric vehicles (EV) at convenient locations. The nonprofit service will revolutionize transportation in Stockton and San Joaquin County and advance social equity by offering residents in disadvantaged communities’ access to clean, affordable, and convenient transportation options.
What is EV Carshare?
The EV carsharing service will provide access to 11 electric vehicles at various hubs in the San Joaquin County.
Shared vehicles can be reserved on the day of travel or booked in advance for easy travel planning.
Members will have access to vehicles 24/7.
The program will be managed by nonprofit, Míocar, an electric vehicle carsharing service. The program will require registration and provides short-term rentals to anyone 21 or older with a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and valid payment.
When Will the Cars be Available?
The program officially launched on January 16, 2024 at the Housing Authority County of San Joaquin's Tracy Homes site, located at 340 W. Fourth St, Tracy, CA. The project team continues to seek site station hosting partnerships with public agencies, organizations, and private site owners. Residents can access the Míocar electric vehicles by downloading and signing up on the ZEV co-op app.
The Stockton EV carsharing service is funded through the new statewide Clean Mobility Options Voucher Pilot Program. The project is part of the California Climate Investments (CCI), a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities, and California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Clean Transportation Program, which is investing more than $1 billion to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission transportation infrastructure and support in-state manufacturing and workforce training and development.
